Name: Kira Yoshikage
Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Assumed Canon Point: In the middle of the "My dad is not my dad" arc
True Canon Point: Near the end of the "Crazy diamond is unbreakable" arc, just before getting hit by the ambulance
History: Kira on the JoJo Wiki
Personality:
In a nutshell: the absolute most mentally ill man to ever breathe in the JoJo universe, but he thinks he's super normal and can't imagine why people couldn't just let him enjoy his hobby (Being a fetishistic serial murderer) in peace....
So Kira has issues. Where the hell do I even begin. He's a contradiction on two legs. If you asked him what his values are, he would say in full earnest that he strives for serenity above all else - a life where he experiences neither intense pleasure nor terrible hardship but in his own words, a peaceful existence like a plant. He explains in a famous monologue of his that he keeps a rigid schedule because it keeps him happy, and allows him to always get a healthy full 8 hours of sleep. His long-time coworkers thought he was either handsomely aloof or a milquetoast bore, and he has always done his best not to stand out by deliberately downplaying whatever talents that he has (however this was revealed by him having third place trophies in just about every subject at high school, so in my mind he has failed at this because third place is still high compared to the rest of your school... but anyway.) He both puts a lot of effort into masking while also believing that the mask is real. He is truly a normal, even a model citizen.
The fact that he sees no contradiction with the fact that he has to hide his true nature is because Kira is very egocentric. Not in the sense that he is proud, although he can be at times - it's that he has some inability to accurately assume or understand another perspective than his own. So although he does know he can't let anyone find out about his crimes, he doesn't really think about it any more deeply than that and has gotten to be pretty cocky and reckless about doing them under people's noses anyway. In fact, he has a lot of confidence in his fate and believes he will simply get away with murders because he always has and luck is on his side. Kira also likes to manipulate his luck by reading his fingernail lengths as a form of divination, keeping detailed records on the progress of each nail, and collecting them in jars. Gross nail clipping jars that he keeps forever, labeled by the year. I bet you're glad you're only allowing us one regain per character this round, huh?
Anyway he really does intend to just keep doing murder and outright refuses to skip town even once the protagonists start to track him down and it gets dangerous for him. Not only that, he doesn't even use his advantage while they still haven't figured out his identity to get the jump on them, only because he hates fighting. The guy is as selfish as a baby and just as needy of security, even while indulging in a chaotic and violent so-called hobby.
I have to get into the details of this fetish murder business eventually, so: most egregious among these is the habit that wound up setting off the events of his villain arc that later wound up with him getting caught, which is taking the severed hands of his latest victims out in public on "dates" while he acts out a scenario where he is romancing a girlfriend. He gets really into this, talking to the hand, calling it by name, presenting it with expensive gifts and occasionally cooking for it or taking it into a shop and making it touch things while his body hides it from view. (I bet you're REALLY glad you're only allowing one regain per character this round, huh?) He uses perfume to mask the smell of death, but "breaks up" with her in search of a new love once it gets really rotten. A supplementary material says that he likes to chat his victims up about things like their likes and dislikes before he murders them, although this is different from the way he kills most women on screen in the anime - most of them are random ladies who he noticed being awful in some way, such as a gold digger-type woman he overheard trash talking the diamond her boyfriend got her and saying she was just using him, or a woman and her boyfriend who were assholes to him on the train. With the gold digger he explicitly thought that she had an ugly heart but beautiful hands, so he'd like to reform her by making her into his "girlfriend", basically living out "I can fix her" fantasies with chicks like this. It seems he has very extensive Handcanons for these girls... But other than fiction of his own design, he seemingly has no interest in women as people whatsoever.
Now I will Uno Reverse him, and tell you MY headcanon - which is based on a comment by JoJos creator Araki where he says he nearly gave Kira a parental abuse backstory but decided against it because it would make him too sympathetic. However it's my belief that the story would not change in the least if you were to add it back in and so it is merely an unspoken piece of canon. It is my intention to not really play this out except subtly so I'll keep it brief, but for the sake of transparency: Kira's mother was supposed to be a "coddling abuser" (emotionally manipulative/abusive helicopter parent) while his father was neglectful and did nothing to stop her, the regret of thus motivates him to protect his son now that he is a spooky ghost and dear Yoshikage is digging his own grave very deeply. It seems to me that this instilled Kira with an immense fear of female intimacy that's at war with his starvation to be loved, which manifests in this sick way of meeting in the middle that also has shades of wanting to be a superior man to his useless father who couldn't fix his mom. So that's my analysis! Back to the Gospel!
Things begin to shift slightly when being cornered by the protagonists forces him to take the drastic measure of trading faces with a random guy and stealing his life... and more importantly, his wife! For the first time in his adult life he is forced to actually be around a woman in his private life, and he finds himself wavering between his urges to expose his true nature to her, or... perhaps.... actually care for her? A fleeting feeling that confused him, and that would never be fully resolved as her son became hell bent on proving him as an impostor. When this pushes him so far that it forced his hand to kill him, Kira panics so badly that his hair goes white and he suddenly develops time loop powers to undo it. So however he ultimately feels about it, hopeful or begrudging, it is undeniable that he had accepted this family as a part of his new 'peaceful life' that he's determined to protect. Also Stray Cat, Stray Cat gets to be a part of his Stand because cats love Yoshikage Kira. Cats loving Yoshikage Kira is the most important personality trait of all. He is... a poor meow meow....
Anyway after he gets his time loop stand Bites The Dust he thinks he's winning again, showing that whenever Kira thinks he's winning he becomes insufferably smug about everything. He regains his confidence and then some. He is feeling so daring he even..... kisses his wife on the cheek!!! And it's mostly to mess with the son because as said he became insufferable. While Kira is in Insufferable Mode he likes to make a lot of stupid jokes about being a Dad. You see, it's funny because he killed Hayato's dad and is pretending to be him. God, I haven't even talked about Kira having OCD tendencies. Kira why are there so many things wrong with you. Listen. At one point, this guy knocked a kid out and then fixed his socks for him because they were inside out and it was bugging him. Earlier he offered him a handkerchief to wipe the bloody nose that he was just about to give him. There's a core buried inside Kira that is deeply, deeply silly and I hope this is what I get to play with him most of all. I need you to make him a shenanigan magnet. It's 15 Strangers, I believe in you
I think that's it.....
ETA No it wasn't, I forgot to tell you that he is deeply anxious under all these layers of other mask and if he is Extra Nervous he will bite his nails until they bleed ok now that's everything
Memories:
1. When he saw the Mona Lisa in a museum as a young boy and it gave him a boner
2. His first victim, Reimi Sugimoto
3. A lot of the details about stealing Kosaku Kawajiri's face and replacing him as Shinobu's husband. It will be fuzzy enough to allow him to think it plausible he just got plastic surgery and married her for whatever reason.
4. Everything surrounding him getting his Bites the Dust stand ability in the "Another one bites the dust" arc
5. Everything in the "crazy diamond is unbreakable" arc - final confrontation with Josuke, revealing his identity to the ambulance lady, etc.
Possession: Stray Cat, a large potted plant that has the personality of a cat, as well as its eyes and mouth. It's actually the Stand incarnation of a dead cat Kira buried in his yard, but it has been depowered of its Stand abilities.
Physiology: He's a human man, and he's pretty ripped under the suit. His fingernails grow when he gets aroused and/or when his Fate determines he's going to have a great day! They remain normal fingernails though, just get long.
Motives: Secrets motive. Full stop. I am just warning you right now that if you give secrets motive to anyone other than Kira, you need to get in my DMs or I will get in yours because Kira is still going to do something. We can plan a botched murder attempt if you like. Just 1000% chance he goes for it, he has to protect his Peaceful Life ok.
That said, I think Kira could kill for other classic motives, like having his enemies eliminated, changing the past or even something like perfect luck.
RP Sample: On the TDM
Case Sample:
As you know by now, Kira kills women for pleasure, but killing for a motive has nothing to do with pleasure. For this purpose he would probably target a male, especially one who was a lot weaker than him. He'd probably prefer a teenage boy because he's getting a vendetta against them after being a villain in a shounen. But really he wouldn't be too picky, it'd be whoever he finds alone after making preparations.
Because he would be have a lot of things to prepare if he was planning to murder, I think he would wait for his roommate to go to bed, then spend a lot of time Crafting at night and strike during the morning. He takes a lot of supplies from the kitchen, laundry, bathroom and pantry, even weapon room. Mostly chemicals but the pantry would be for some dry ice. Weapons room he's taking a number of the live ammo to steal their gunpowder. Crafting.
First thing he'll make is chloroform to lace a handkerchief with out of acetone and bleach. (I would have this be one of the first clues toward Kira by having him inquire about nail kits at some point IC, as they would definitely have acetone as a nail polish remover.) He likes to do things boldly and doesn't enjoy confrontation either, so he wouldn't do too many mind games to lure a person out and instead just kidnap them by knocking them out that way. After that, he'd just toss them in the incinerator (Another clue to his identity as someone who can very easily carry a body) and do it Zero Escape style. Why fix what's not broken, right? But assuming that the incinerator was noisy, he would probably duct tape them up first and leave them in for a while before turning it on to kill them. (If he can set a timer on it without it being super noisy then this would be even better, but he'd come back if he needed to.) First he has other important things to do...
Setting up bombs! This is what the dry ice and gunpowder were used to make the previous night - the idea is there's a fuse for the gunpowder which rapidly melts the dry ice, which then explodes. So after the incinerator is turned on, he would use it to blow the door to the trial room open just before all that noise started the investigation. And uh, smuggle chloroform bombs in there to hide in the very likely case that they catch him because this is a mass execution game. He doesn't think he has a choice but to go for the motive, so he is going to Cause Problems For Everyone during his execution, we have established that the executioner is a role so he will be trying to murder this person along with anyone else in the trial room if necessary. So his case will be a very simple murder with a lot more lean toward this being his ultimate goal, and therein most of the clues will be - the use of bombs is likely to put people in mind of Kira, whether due to canon familiarity or just "he's weird and he seems like he would be smart enough to figure out how to take a bullet apart / make a bomb"
In summary, timeline:
Night Time
-Making the chloroform, taking apart the bullets for gunpowder, making bombs of both an explosive and chloroform variety.
-After all of that is made, stashes it somewhere and goes to bed so his roommate is not suspicious.
Early Morning
- Kidnaps whoever gets up first with a chloroform laced handkerchief
- Duct tapes them and puts them in the incinerator. Turns on the timer for the incinerator.
-Goes to the ? room and blows the door up, quickly smuggles more bombs in.
- Hides somewhere until he can make a convincing appearance.
Clues:
1. Kira asked for a nail kit earlier and it has been used extensively. He will say this is because nail care is very important to him, but the acetone was used for chloroform
2. Strong enough to carry a body to the incinerator, though he would try to choose a victim who is fairly light to make this broader
3. Not much he can do to pass a smell check but at least the soapiness is in line with his OCD
4. I mean, it's Bombs
5. He keeps a rigid sleep schedule so he would probably be forced to operate within the constraints of it to seem as normal. Meaning he either has to make everything before 11pm when he goes to bed / can only start killing after 7 am. Or, if he is up late/early, the more likely option, his roommate may make note of his deviation.
